Former PSG skipper, Thiago Silva refused Fiorentina’s advances and is set to undergo medical at Chelsea on Thursday
It appears Frank Lampard and Chelsea are not done with the transfer market just yet. After signing the trio of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, and Xavier Mbuyamba, the London side is set to land Thiago Silva.
According to a report from Sky Sports, the Brazil international is due to undergo a Chelsea medical on Thursday, August 27, after “the finishing touch” to an offer have been agreed between the club and the player in the past 48 hours.
Silva may be past his prime but comes to the Premier League with a lot of experience on his shoulders. It is still unclear if he would walk straight into the team’s starting eleven but his leadership abilities will leave Frank Lampard with no choice.
The 35-year-old defender turned down an offer from Fiorentina and picked Chelsea because he wanted a team that is participating in the Champions League.
Lampard continues his defensive overhaul in Chelsea with Ben Chilwell also set to be announced by the Blues in the coming days.
