Liverpool should be considering the idea of making a move to re-sign Luis Suarez from Barcelona, says Steve Nicol.

Luis Suarez is apparently available on the market this summer and Liverpool have been urged to re-sign their former player.

Having joined the Reds from Ajax back in 2011, the Uruguayan forward bagged 82 in 133 games for the club.

During his time at Liverpool, Suarez established himself as one of the world’s best strikers and it was only a matter of time before the other big guns came in for him.

In 2014, the forward sealed another big move to Barcelona and also carried on with his prolific record in front of goal.

Suarez has so far bagged 198 goals in 283 appearances for the Catalan giants. He is also the club’s third all-time scorer in their history.

Despite all of that, he is no longer wanted at the Nou Camp. New boss Ronald Koeman deemed the Uruguayan forward surplus to requirements. The forward is now in search of a club for next season.

A move to Juventus appeared to be on the cards at one stage, but the Serie A champions have shifted their focus. They are now closing in on a deal for Roma star Edin Dzeko.

Suarez could now be up for grabs by any club and former Red Steve Nicol has urged the Premier League champions to consider the move.

The former Reds defender told ESPN FC: “Absolutely, 100 percent [Liverpool should sign Suarez], that would be a great [move]. It completely and utterly makes sense – it’s being smart.”

“You’re going to get a guy, after you speak to him, you’re going to get a guy who I think is going to be happy to go back and play at Anfield, is going to get sufficient amounts of games to keep him happy, he’s quality, he will score goals, he will give you something in the front three that I don’t think they possess.”

“Maybe you can argue they don’t need anything else right now but it makes complete sense.”

“Liverpool have to get an experienced campaigner, who can play at the level that Liverpool are going to be playing at, or you get a real star, an up-and-coming young player who again is more than happy just to be there and get the amount of games that he might get.”

“But to the Suarez one, 100 per cent I would do it.”
