Dani Alves claims Barcelona were too arrogant to admit their mistake as they rejected a chance to re-sign him after his stint abroad.

Considered as one of the best full-backs of all time, and perhaps the finest attacking full-back of the modern era, Dani Alves spent gained much of his fame while at FC Barcelona.

The Brazilian put up staggering numbers for someone in his position during his stint at Camp Nou – 21 goals and 101 assists in 391 games.

In his eight years at the club, he helped Barca land 23 silverware in total including six La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies.

Alves joined Juventus as a free agent after parting ways with the Catalan giants in the summer of 2016. He kept up his performance levels despite having reached the twilight years of his career and helped the Italian champions to a Serie A and Coppa Italia double.

Paris Saint-Germain was his next destination after just one season at Juve and then Sao Paulo, where he currently plies his trade.

“I offered myself to Barca to come back. I went to Juve to prove I was still at a good level,” the veteran defender opened up on RAC 1.

“I wanted to return to Barca and they needed me, but they didn’t have the balls to admit that they were wrong with me.

“If they had treated me as I thought I deserved, today I would still continue playing for Barca. I love this club.”
