It’s time we take a look at the Top 5 footballers of 2020 around the world of football, this is a list made by the Ace Football and Ronaldo.com team.

After a long 2020 that challenged the whole world of football, we still decided to create a Top 5 list of the best footballers of the year. The way we decided to make this selection was taking both stats and collective efforts under consideration. But more importantly, we also wanted to talk about the influence these footballers had on the teams they represented throughout the year. The Ace Football and Ronaldo.com team proudly presents this Top 5 list of the best footballers of 2020.

5.- Neymar

Even though it’s been a complicated year for him off the pitch due to injuries, Neymar still managed to lead PSG to another Ligue 1 title. But more importantly, he was the driving force that helped the French giants reach the UEFA Champions League final. This year was the one that confirmed he still is one of the best players in the world when he doesn’t get injured. His massive influence is unquestionable. Unfortunately, he keeps making more headlines off than on the pitch.

4.- Lionel Messi

Despite having a terrible collective year at FC Barcelona, Lionel Messi keeps shining on his own on the individual level. The year 2020 was the one in which he reached a record no other footballer might ever get in many decades. Scoring the most goals with a single club in football history was a record Pele had and Messi surpassed.

3.- Kylian Mbappe

The other incredible PSG player who helped his club reach the Champions League final. This 2020 year was the one that confirmed this French forward is the true heir to Messi and Ronaldo’s throne. At only 21 years old, he is already a World Cup champion and he played his first Champions League final. The future’s so bright for Kylian that even he has no idea how far he might get.

2.- Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo had a fantastic year on the individual level and won the second Serie A title of his career with Juventus. But his numbers returned to a level we didn’t see from him a year prior to this one. With 44 goals in all competitions, only another player scored more than he did during the year. However, Cristiano is still at the highest level despite pushing 36 years old. Simply incredible.

1.- Robert Lewandowski

Nobody questions the unique year Robert Lewandowski had with Bayern Munich. France Football should rectify their historic mistake and give him the Ballon d’Or for the year. He didn’t only score the highest number of goals of his entire career during a natural year. The Polish striker also led Bayern Munich to a record-breaking season in all competitions. Robert is at the top of his game and he looks like he will only get better.
