After Edinson Cavani’s letter of disappointment, the English FA wanted to respond to all the scrutiny with an official response from them.

The English FA keeps surprising us by getting on their moral high horse over the Edinson Cavani situation. There has been a lot of scrutinies after they decided to ban him from games and charge him with a €100,000 fine after a “racist” remark on Instagram. But the issue here is that the FA never found time to understand the full context of the situation or Cavani’s background.

All they did was to make a decision in accordance to their own standards. This whole drama left Cavani as a possibly racist person when in reality, he is nothing but love and respect for others. After getting the charge, the striker decided to write a letter where he accepts the punishment but doesn’t agree with it. After that, Cavani got support from colleagues and even the Uruguay Football Federation

The FA responds to all the scrutiny.

After all the scrutiny they were subjected to, the English FA had to come up with some type of response. What they mentioned in a short statement only adds insult to injury and describes an alarming lack of sensibility for other cultures. Essentially, they are blaming Manchester United for not giving Cavani the proper PR training as soon as he arrived.

Sky Sports picked up the official statement from the FA: “In light of the player’s high profile in the game, his inability to speak English and the fact that he had approaching eight million Instagram followers, the Commission were surprised that no such ‘training’ had been specifically put in place for the player by his club.”
