On April 15, 1952, Chelsea faced a nightmarish day at Villa Park. The Blues conceded seven goals, leaving their fans utterly disheartened. The Londoners found themselves trailing by three goals in the first half, and things only got worse after the break. James Smith managed to salvage some pride for Chelsea by scoring their lone goal, but it was far from enough to avoid this crushing defeat.
Wolverhampton Wanderers 7-1 Chelsea (1975)
In March 1975, Chelsea suffered their second-heaviest defeat by a single team in the Football League First Division. Wolverhampton Wanderers were the culprits on this occasion, as they humiliated Chelsea 7-1. John Richards was the tormentor-in-chief for the hosts, scoring a brace, while Chelsea’s only consolation goal came courtesy of Bill Garner. It was a day Chelsea fans would rather forget.
Leeds 7-0 Chelsea (1967)
The year 1967 brought a humiliating defeat that still haunts Chelsea fans to this day. In a clash against Leeds United, the Blues’ defence crumbled under the relentless pressure of their opponents. Manager Ron Suart’s team ended the first half with four goals conceded and ended the match with a shocking 7-0 scoreline against them. What made this defeat even more painful was the fact that seven different players scored for Leeds that day, including Chelsea’s Marvin Hinton, who inadvertently found the back of his team’s net with an own goal in the 90th minute.
Nottingham Forest 7-0 Chelsea (1991)
The 1991/92 First Division season was one to forget for Chelsea, especially after their encounter with Nottingham Forest. On matchday 36, Forest obliterated Chelsea with a 7-0 drubbing.
