Inter Milan’s long wait for Serie A glory could end with the addition of two more quality players, says Massimo Moratti.
Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante and Napoli center-back Kalidou Koulibaly are the two players that Moratti believes can guarantee Scudetto glory for Inter.
Juventus’ domination of the Italian league has left Nerazzurri with no success since their triumph in 2009/10. Although they made progress under Antonio Conte last season, finishing just a point behind the champions in second place.
The current campaign, however, has gotten off to a mixed start as Inter sit seventh in the standings but five points behind leaders AC Milan after seven games.
“The Nerazzurri are owned by a family that gives me hope,” the former Inter president Moratti told GR Parlamento.
“Suning want to stay for a long time and invest to achieve important results. I think that, with Kante and Koulibaly, the team would win the Scudetto.”
Juventus haven’t enjoyed a great start themselves under their third manager in as many seasons in Andrea Pirlo.
The rookie coach is unbeaten in his opening seven league games, but has mustered just three wins and settled for four draws. It’s left the club fifth in the standings and a point above Inter.
“Juventus deserved to win the last nine titles,” continued Moratti.
“They still seem the most complete team, from talent to financial possibilities. Much will depend on Pirlo and how he will fit in.
“It’s not good to think they are going to win 10 in a row, but the only thing one can do is try to make a stronger team that can fight against them. Inter could do it, I hope.”
Inter will return to action at home to Torino at San Siro on Saturday.
