Marseille forward Floran Thauvin has given a concise response to reports that have linked him with Real Madrid of late.

Thauvin has shrugged off reports claiming Real Madrid blatantly turned down a move for him.

The Frenchman has revived his career with Marseille after a disappointing spell in the Premier League with Newcastle. In a somewhat disappointing campaign for Les Phocéens so far this season, he has been one of their shining lights.

Thauvin has scored seven goals and recorded seven assists in 23 Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille this term. It won’t come as a surprise to see a number of sides interested in his services.

Just recently, an exclusive report from Spanish outlet Defensa Central claimed Real Madrid were offered the chance to sign the Marseille star.

However, the report adds that Zidane turned down the opportunity to sign the 28-year-old on a free transfer for one reason. Los Blancos have a number of wingers on their books and Thauvin will not come as an upgrade to their current options.

The Marseille star has now responded to the above claim.

Taking to Twitter to respond to the report from Defensa Central, Thauvin gave a brief response.

He posted: “Is that so? Thanks for the laugh anyway.”

Although, it remains to be seen where Thauvin will play his football next season.

His current contract with Marseille expires in the summer and there has been no breakthrough so far regarding an extension.
