Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has admitted there is ‘a question mark’ hanging over Bruno Fernandes’ availability for the Tottenham Hotspur game on Thursday.

The 28-year-old midfielder came off in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final victory over Brighton with an ankle injury. He left Wembley wearing a protective boot. His potential absence will come as a blow for United, with defenders Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane already out.

“There are some unavailable,” Ten Hag said in a pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

“Martinez, Varane. We have to see how Bruno Fernandes is. We don’t know yet. He is a question mark.

“It’s more often that players [wear the boot], that we protect them. But [the ankle] has to settle down. We all have seen he played the full game [90 minutes before extra time].

“It happened in the first half. [The game is] Thursday, so tomorrow is quick, but we have to see what is possible.”
