Despite falling out of favor at Chelsea recently, Abraham could be forced to stay put unless he agrees to lower his wage demands.
Tammy Abraham could reportedly have to stay at Chelsea for next season due to his lucrative wage demands.
Despite being the club’s top scorer this season on 12 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions, Abraham has struggled to win favor since Thomas Tuchel became manager in January.
This, along with struggles to agree on a long-term contract with the 23-year-old, has left Chelsea open to a summer exit.
Most goal contributions for Chelsea this season:
21 – Timo Werner (11G, 10A)
16 – Tammy Abraham (12G, 4A)
14 – Mason Mount (8G, 6A)
12 – Kai Havertz (6G, 6A)
11 – Olivier Giroud (11G, 0A)
10 – Ben Chilwell (3G, 7A)
10 – Callum Hudson-Odoi (5G, 5A) pic.twitter.com/sSJAdoll7o— ExpectedChelsea (@ExpectedChelsea) April 24, 2021
Premier League sides West Ham, Southampton, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United are all interested.
But TEAMtalk claim no club has offered Abraham anything close to the lucrative salary demands he made in contract talks with Chelsea – not even half of it.
So Abraham now faces a tricky decision on his Blues future.
The former Aston Villa striker could agree to a lower salary in favor of guaranteed regular football with another club, or he could stay at Chelsea and see out the final two years of his current contract on a reported wage of £57,692-per-week
But given the club’s interest in Erling Haaland and Sergio Aguero, regular football for next season won’t be easy.
