Liverpool’s €100m bid for Chiesa rejected

Juventus have turned down an ambitious €100 million (£86m) offer from Liverpool for Federico Chiesa.

The 23-year-old winger’s profile has soared following an impressive debut campaign in Turin and his starring role in Italy’s triumphant Euro 2020 campaign this summer.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp views Chiesa as a perfect addition for his squad. But his Juventus counterpart, Massimiliano Allegri, considers the Italian as ‘non-transferable’. [Repubblica – in Italian]

Martial to join Tottenham?

After sealing a deal for Jadon Sancho, Manchester United are reportedly keen to offload Anthony Martial.

The former Monaco forward has struggled to live up to expectations at Old Trafford. Therefore, United hope to sell him for around £50 million (€58m). The Red Devils plan to recoup some of the money invested in other signings, such as Sancho and possibly Raphael Varane.

But while interested in Martial, Tottenham may struggle to meet United’s asking price and Martial’s £250,000 weekly wages. [The Daily Star]

Bayern Munich set sights on Chelsea’s Werner

Timo Werner has become a subject of transfer interest for Bayern Munich.

The Bavarians have a ‘concrete interest’ in Werner. New manager Julian Nagelsmann, who worked with Werner at RB Leipzig, remains a huge admirer of the Chelsea forward. He apparently views him as somebody who can cover for Robert Lewandowski and eventually replace the club’s star striker.

After a somewhat underwhelming first season at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are open to allowing Werner to leave. [Football Insider]

Manchester United strike an agreement with Varane

Raphael Varane has reportedly struck a ‘total’ agreement with Manchester United ahead of a summer move.

The French defender has agreed on a five-year contract with a huge salary included. All that’s left is the transfer fee itself. United and Real Madrid remain locked in talks after the Spanish club rejected the first bid.

United hope to get Varane for around €40 million with an additional €5m in variables. But while the 28-year-old is out of contract in 2022, Real Madrid are still holding out for a figure close to €70m. [Diario AS – in Spanish]
