Ronald Koeman told Luis Suarez to find new employers and this has not sit well with Barcelona great Rivaldo.
The chaos at Camp Nou scorching everyone. Luis Suarez became the latest casualty with Ronald Koeman calling him up and informing of an uncertain future with Barcelona.
Rivaldo left Catalonia in similar circumstances when another Dutchman was appointed manager. The Brazilian had a famous falling out with Louis van Gaal and left for adventures away from Camp Nou.
The 2002 World Cup winner took out time to reflect on the manner in which Suarez is being ushered out of the club.
Rivaldo was disappointed with the treatment shelled out to a prolific servant and believes he deserved better. The 48-year-old speculated that probably it is Suarez’s treatment that has propelled Messi in ending his Barcelona journey.
“I will be sad if Suarez leaves because I don’t forget what he has done for the club for many years,” Rivaldo said in an interview with Betfair.
“His exit could have influenced Messi’s decision to leave the club as Messi, Suarez, and Arturo Vidal are good friends.”
“Suarez would be a big loss for the club, but I hope his replacement can do even better. That will be very difficult, though, because Suarez is one of the best attackers in the world.”
“Rumors in the press say that Koeman told Suarez he wasn’t wanted with a quick phone call. But from what I know about Koeman I doubt it is true because he is a good person, who considers player’s feelings and is a good communicator.”
“After everything he’s achieved, the least Suarez deserved was a meeting with Koeman, the board, and president. He has a contract with the club, and there will need to be a negotiation with another club before he leaves, so things should have been done differently if what’s reported is true.”
Messi has been linked with Manchester City, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain. Rivaldo believes the Cityzens have the upper hand given Pep Guardiola’s presence at the Etihad Stadium.
