Stones spills formula for Manchester City season turnaround

The Sky Blues have soared from a near mid-table spot in November to the summit of the league standings three months later.

John Stones believes hard work and the fighting spirit shown by the team have been crucial to Manchester City’s incredible season turnaround.

Manchester City are leading the Premier League title race and maintain a healthy seven-point advantage over the closest challenger.

The Citizens are through to the Carabao Cup final and are just two steps away from doing the same in the FA Cup.

While such feats are not exactly unheard of from them and are pretty much the expectations, City’s recent successes do look impressive considering their form and position not too long ago.

Pep Guardiola’s man occupied the lowly 13th position in the league standings in mid-November and it was starting to appear that have already given up hope on this season.

“I am thoroughly enjoying [the current campaign],” Stone told the club’s official website.

“I think at one point this season we were not in a good position in the table, but we have kept fighting ever since then and turned it around.

“It is credit to the team and everyone who has played their part and that is absolutely everyone.

“To be in the position we are in now is incredible and we have got to build on that and keep pushing forward. That is the mentality around the group at the minute.”
