The Manchester United boss won bragging rights over his Manchester City counterpart in Sunday’s derby and set a new impressive stat.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has become the first manager to beat a Pep Guardiola-led team in three successive away games following Sunday’s derby triumph.
Given Manchester City’s incredible run of form, few fancied Manchester United’s chances of a derby win. But if there is one thing Solskjaer knows how to pull off, it’s bagging a big win over a direct rival.
The Norwegian has overseen back-to-back away victories over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, beaten Leicester 2-0 in their own backyard, thrashed Chelsea 4-0 at Old Trafford in August 2019, and more.

And now he can add another impressive feat to his accolade in beating Guardiola’s City at the Etihad three times in a row following the 2-0 win on Sunday.
Solskjaer first beat Guardiola at the Etihad in December 2019 with a 2-1 victory in the Premier League. He did it again last January in a 1-0 EFL Cup win, although City won the semi-final tie 2-1 on aggregate, and did so again for a third time last weekend in the league.
Bruno Fernandes’ second-minute penalty and a second-half goal from Luke Shaw sealed victory for United. It moved them to within 11 points of table-toppers City in the title race, with another 10 games to spare.
Winning the league title still looks like an outside bet at best, but fair play to Ole on this stat.
