The teenager started his senior Spurs career on a high note after coming on at half-time in Sunday’s fixture at Rossett Park.
16-year-old Alfie Devine was one of the standout performers in Tottenham’s 5-0 demolition of Marine in the FA Cup third round.
Devine came off the bench moments after the break to replace Moussa Sissoko, marking his first senior appearance for the north London side.
It did not take long for the England youth international to make his mark on the match as he, firing a low shot at the near post, found the net at the 60-minute mark.
Devine etched his name into Tottenham’s history books with his goal as he is now the youngest senior goalscorer in the club’s history at 16 years and 162 days.
Additionally, the midfielder also became the youngest player to score for a Football League or Premier League club in the FA Cup since 2011 after scoring against the eighth-tier Marine.
“He’s a kid with good potential that came to the club only this summer,” Jose Mourinho said of the youngster after the match, as per Football London.
“He was lucky enough to have pre-season with us because we were short of players, so he had pre-season with us and played a few friendlies.
“He’s a kid that basically is a midfield player but with an instinct to appear in finishing zones and to score goals. We like him and of course, for him today is a special day.”
