‘I couldn’t believe it!’ was Sergio Reguilon’s reaction after Tottenham told him they had created golf holes at their training ground for Gareth Bale.

Just about every Real Madrid fan is aware of how much of a golf aficionado Bale is after his many games out in the sunny Spanish golf courses and, of course, that famous ‘Golf, Wales, Madrid’ banner.

He even has a golf course in his own back garden in South Wales.

Such is his love for the game that Reguilon has suggested that Tottenham are encouraging his hobby to keep him happy after re-signing him on loan.

The Spanish full-back, who followed Bale out of Real Madrid to Spurs in the summer, told ‘El Larguero’ on Cadena Ser of his teammate’s mood: “He seems different to me.

“The language is everything for him. He speaks Spanish well, it’s not bad, a bit like me in English, but communication, the habits, mean he’s happier in England… I have no idea if he’ll return (to Madrid).

“What most surprised me is at Spurs’ training ground there are golf holes. I asked about it and they told me they were put there for him! They’re short holes, maybe 30 metres. I couldn’t believe it!”

Spurs really do seem to be catering to Bale’s every need.

Whatever they’re doing, though, it seems to be working as the Welsh star scored the winner in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Brighton to reopen his goal account for the club after leaving for Real Madrid in 2013.
