Son Heung-min and Harry Kane spoke on a growing relationship as they ran the show for Spurs in their 5-2 thrashing of Southampton.
Son Heung-min and Harry Kane showed a beautiful partnership as Spurs secured their first League win of the season in style.
Danny Ings scored the first goal of the game and gave his side the lead going into the first half.
In the second half, it was a different story entirely. Son was in inspired form and scored four goals in the space of 28 minutes. Harry Kane wrapped things up with the fifth before Danny Ings grabbed a consolation penalty late on.
An interesting stat in the game was that Harry Kane was the provider for all four goals scored by Son. As per Opta, it was the first time that has happened in a Premier League game.
After the game, both forwards seemed to hint at a growing connection that already exists between them.
“It’s a big honor, [scoring] four goals but four amazing assists so [Kane] deserved Man of the Match today,” Son said as quoted by the Independent.
“We are working five seasons together so we know what we like and Harry is one of the best strikers.”
“Normally when I pass, he scores amazing goals. We are working together and we work hard to have a good relationship on and off the pitch. We struggled a bit [in the first half] so the equalizer was important; second half it’s a shame to not score more than five.”
Kane also spoke on the partnership and echoed comments of a ‘connection’ as Son hinted.
“We knew there’d be space in behind so we spoke about I drop and he runs. I didn’t even look for one, I just know he’s running behind. We’ve been building the relationship and it’s nice to see him get his first hat-trick.
Kane also spoke on Bale and how he could further strengthen the Spurs attack-line.
“Everyone knows how good Bale is and I’m sure he’ll be excited to get out and play for Spurs. Hopefully, we can score five goals most games and continue the winning run.”
