The England international hobbled off the pitch in the second half of the derby on the weekend after picking up an ankle injury.
Marcus Rashford is unlikely to be involved in Manchester United’s Europa League last-16 first-leg clash with AC Milan on Thursday.
Rashford’s injury served as a negative in an otherwise positive night for Manchester United on Sunday.
The Red Devils were able to cut their gap from Manchester City in the Premier League table after beating them 2-0. In the process, they also ended the noisy neighbors’ 21-game winning streak.
Rashford hurt his ankle as he raced back to stop Riyad Mahrez in the second half. It was feared that he could be out of action for a while, but scan results later revealed that he managed to avoid ligament damage.
However, the forward is still expected to miss the match against Milan as well as the league outing against West Ham on Sunday.
“I don’t think he’ll be available for tomorrow,“ said Solskjaer in his pre-match press conference.
“He’s still getting treatment but he didn’t join in the training today. Even though normally I’m a very optimistic guy, I still think he’s going to be out tomorrow night and a doubt for the weekend.
Solskjaer added on other absentees: “
I’m not sure if anyone will be back. David [De Gea] is not available. Donny [van de Beek], no. Paul [Pogba], no. Edinson [Cavani], maybe, but probably not. Juan [Mata], no and Marcus, maybe, but probably not.”
