The Red Devils put an old foe to the sword on Sunday while giving them a taste of their ruthless fast-paced counter-attacking football.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has picked out the absence of fans from Old Trafford as the only negative from Manchester United’s 6-2 thrashing of Leeds United.
It took only slightly over a minute for the home side to establish a lead and about the same to double their advantage, with both goals coming from Scott McTominay.
The Red Devils continued to assert their dominance over their old rivals as Bruno Fernandes, Daniel James, Victor Lindelof also got on the scoresheet to contribute to the emphatic victory.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men leapfrogged to third in the Premier League table after Sunday’s result and are just five points behind leaders Liverpool with a game in hand.
“That was fantastic from the first minute. We had a plan to get after them, go forwards when we had the ball and Scott got two goals in the first three minutes!” Solskjaer told, via Express.
“Just imagine if there were 75,000 people in, it would have gone down in history as one of the great performances against Leeds.
“It could have been 12-4! It’s that kind of game.
“I enjoyed it, it was frantic, hectic. No matter what the score is they have a certain attitude or style, if they are 5-0 up or down.”
