The Spanish goalkeeper hasn’t played for Manchester United since a Premier League match against Chelsea at the end of February.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has assured David de Gea he will “definitely play football for us again” after Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Brighton.

De Gea returned to United on Sunday for the first time since flying out to Spain for the birth of his first child last month. In his absence, however, Dean Henderson has impressed in goal.

The Englishman, who has spent most of this season playing second fiddle, got the nod over De Gea to start against Brighton. However, while acknowledging both keepers are worthy of the No.1 jersey, Solskjaer insists it’s not the end of the road for the latter.

“I’ve got two great keepers, two number 1s,” Solskjaer told BBC Sport.

“David de Gea spent a while back home and then he had internationals so he hadn’t played for about a month. He’ll definitely play football for us again.”

Second-half goals from Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood, meanwhile, sealed United victory over Brighton, who had snatched an early lead through Danny Welbeck at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer’s men have now moved four points clear of Leicester City in second-place in the Premier League table.
