Goals from Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood saw Manchester United claim a comeback win over Brighton at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford rescued a 2-1 win for a below-par Manchester United over Brighton at Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes assisted Rashford just past the hour mark to cancel out Danny Welbeck’s first-half effort in an open Premier League encounter. Greenwood’s diving header nine minutes from time secured all three points for the Red Devils.

Having seen the likes of Leicester City, Chelsea and Tottenham all drop points at the weekend, the game against Brighton was an ideal chance for United to cement their grip on second place.

However, the Red Devils were poor in the opening 45 minutes with, Brighton fully deserving of their lead through former Red Devil Danny Welbeck.

The Seagulls’ high-intensity approach in the first half naturally gave way to a more cautious approach after the break. United’s pressure converted as Fernandes picked up a loose pass to set up Rashford for a well-taken finish just after the hour mark.

While United went in search of a winner, Brighton reminded the hosts they were still in it as Maguire breathed a sigh of relief following a VAR review for a potential penalty.

With Rashford and Edinson Cavani subbed off with United needing to find a goal, Greenwood was left as the only recognized striker and he duly delivered with a poacher’s finish.

The win sees United move up to 60 points, four points above third-place Leicester City.

The Red Devils will now turn their attentions to the Europa League where they face Granada on Thursday. Following that game, revenge will be on the cards when they travel to north London to take on Tottenham.
