Manchester United boss Ole Solskjaer has labeled Harry Maguire an ‘inspiration’ after an assuring performance against Newcastle.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was pleased to see Harry Maguire put in a strong performance against Newcastle following a difficult past few weeks.

The United captain suffered the first of his struggles with police in Greece while on holiday before the new season.

Maguire also fell culprit to some woeful performances in defense which was compounded in his side’s 6-1 defeat to Tottenham. It got worse for the defender when he took a red card after just 31 minutes on international duty with England.

Solskjaer was certain the United skipper will bounce back from it all in style, and those comments have been proven right.

Maguire gave his side the lead in their 4-1 victory over Newcastle and put in an assured performance. The United boss was happy to see the captain put in an ‘inspirational’ performance in the evening.

Solskjaer said as per The Mirror: “We were led by a very inspirational captain.”

“There was great resilience inspired by the captain. Great defending. He is in charge and is so calm.”

“Harry scored and led by example. He showed good character, I am happy for him. He had a couple of difficult weeks since he last played for us.”

Solskjaer will be hoping Maguire can do more of the same when United face a bigger test in PSG in their Champions League clash on Tuesday.
