Luke Shaw has backed teammate Donny van de Beek to fit in seamlessly in new surroundings at Manchester United.

Luke Shaw is more than certain Van de Beek will get to a good start at Manchester United.

The Dutchman arrived at Carrington at the end of August in a deal worth £40m from Ajax. He became Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first signing of the summer.

Van de Beek put on a show for his first game in the Red Devils shirt. He was strutting his skills at ease in a pre-season friendly against Aston Villa last weekend.

Shaw played alongside the midfielder for that game and looks to be impressed with the Dutchman so far.

Speaking to MUTV, Shaw said: “Really good. It’s all about minutes and he (Van de Beek) got that.”

“He hasn’t been with us long, obviously he was another who was on international [duty], so he’s done really well considering he’s only trained with us for two days.”

“The most important thing is him getting to know the players, knowing how each other play.”

“We’ve got a whole week now to slot him in, but so far so good, he’s a really nice guy and I’m sure he’ll fit in great.”

Van de Beek played the whole ninety minutes of that game and Ole Solskjaer was equally pleased with the midfielder.

“Donny was maybe the biggest plus outfield,” Solskjaer said.

“He’s such a finder of space and creates time for himself with his timing and movement. I was very happy with his performance.”

Van de Beek is expected to bring in proper depth and quality in the heart of midfield for United. So far, he has started on a decent note.
