Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium was the place where FC Barcelona visited Sevilla FC in the Spanish La Liga. We got the player ratings.

FC Barcelona needed a victory against Sevilla this evening in order to gain more confidence for the return semifinal they have to play next week. This was a La Liga match at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium and Ronald Koeman wanted to come out as defensive as possible. In order to feel protected at the back, the Dutch manager decided to use a three-man defensive line. Gerard Pique returned to action next to Clement Lenglet and Oscar Mingueza.

On the sides they used Dest and Alba. Leo Messi was at the front with Dembele and the midfield was formed by the usual three. Frenkie de Jong, Busquets, and Pedri were in the middle. During the first half, Leo assisted Dembele in a counterattack to score Barcelona’s first goal of the evening. The Catalan club controlled the ball throughout the 90 minutes and Sevilla wasn’t able to respond.

Injury extravaganza and Messi FTW.

Before the break, we saw Gerard Pique feeling pain on his recently operated knee but he still decided to keep playing. The Catalan defender held the position for another 20 minutes into the second half. However, he still had to step out of the pitch in order to give Ronald Araujo some minutes to play. Koeman got more bad news with two very important players suffering injuries in the second half.

Pedri had to leave the pitch with a muscular issue and Araujo also had to leave with problems in his ankle. These are terrible news for the upcoming two games against Sevilla and PSG in the other two competitions. In order to help the supporters forget about these rough times, Messi scored Barcelona’s second goal after a combination with Ilaix. With this one, Leo reaches 19 La Liga goals and stands alone at the top of the Pichichi table.
