The veteran midfielder is expected to leave Barcelona when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets plans to make a final decision on his future ‘around February’.

The 34-year-old remains a key player for Barcelona and the Spanish national team. He has made 16 appearances in all club competitions this season and started in both of Spain’s World Cup games.

However, while Busquets continues to feature regularly at Camp Nou, his contract ends in the summer. Various reports claim he’ll end a career-long association with Barca next summer, with the MLS touted as a potential destination.

“Not yet. I already said it in the summer and at the press conference against Switzerland in Zaragoza. Just like the World Cup, I haven’t decided,” Busquets told El Larguero.

“It’s my last year, I know a lot has been said, but I’ve always spoken in the same way. I have nothing signed from one side or the other. We’ll see how it goes, but around February or so I would like to be clear and decide.”

Busquets could make his third World Cup start on Thursday when Spain take on Japan in their Group E finale. Luis Enrique’s side need at least a point to secure a last-16 spot.
