Reports have emerged in Barcelona claiming the Argentine striker’s heart problems could force him into a premature retirement.

Sergio Aguero will reportedly delay any potential retirement decision until his three-month lay-off period is complete.

After suffering chest pains in only his fifth appearance for Barcelona in October, Aguero was sent to the hospital. Tests later diagnosed him with cardiac arrhythmia – an irregular heartbeat problem. He previously suffered from it at the start of his football career.

Barcelona expect the Argentina international to miss another three months, at least, until he recovers.

Catalunya Radio, though, stated the problem is worse than feared. The Catalan network claimed on Friday that Aguero’s latest medical results suggest his condition could force him to end his career.

But ESPN has stated that sources inside the 33-year-old’s circle claim he won’t rush into any ‘irresponsible’ decisions until his initial three-month treatment plan is complete.

Aguero has said he is in ‘good spirits’ ahead of his rehabilitation program. That said, for now at least, it remains to be seen if the Manchester City legend will ever take to the pitch again.
