Rashford set for lucrative new Man United contract

Manchester United are set to award Marcus Rashford a new bumper pay rise in the new year in a bid to secure his long-term future.

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward plans to begin negotiations in the next two months over a new five-year contract. The 23-year-old will earn around £300,000-a-week at Old Trafford. [Daily Star]

Inter to rival Barcelona for Wijnaldum

Georginio Wijnaldum is out of contract next summer and doesn’t appear to be any closer to signing an extension at Liverpool.

The midfielder’s former Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman, who now coaches Barcelona, was keen to take him to Camp Nou in the last transfer window. He may attempt to entice him again over the next year.

Paul Pogba appears increasingly likely to leave Manchester United after his agent, Mino Raiola, announced he won’t sign a new contract.

Juventus are now investigating ways to re-sign their former midfielder for the next summer transfer window. The Italian champions have allegedly offered Paulo Dybala and Federico Bernardeschi to United as part of a potential deal. [ESPN]

Spurs outcast Fernandes to return to Benfica

Gedson Fernandes has made just 13 appearances for Tottenham since joining from Benfica on loan last January. In fact, he has played just one game this season – an EFL Cup match against Chelsea in September.

Benfica have, therefore, decided to cut short the 21-year-old midfielder’s loan spell in London by six months for a return to Portugal. [Jornal de Noticias, via Sport Witness]

Philippe Coutinho appears to have struck out again at Barcelona. He’s struggled to make the line-up regularly since his return on loan from Bayern Munich.
