Jesse Lingard has lost his space within the Manchester United squad and is reportedly about to ask for a transfer in the January market.

It is no secret that Jesse Lingard is a Manchester United fan. Apart from a few loans, the English footballer has spent his whole career at the Red Devils. However, as he’s about to turn 28, he’s seriously considering to part ways with the club.

Last season was a tough one for Jesse Lingard. He admitted to having some issues that affected both his personal and professional life.

“Everyday people struggle. It’s easy to give up and quit but I’m not the type of person to do that. I’d rather fight. I’ve always had to fight all my life, even from the age of seven coming through the ranks here. For me, it was about never giving up, keep working hard, and be patient for an opportunity.”

Nonetheless, Lingard’s lack of minutes this season makes it clear he isn’t a part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans at the moment. The midfielder’s situation is reportedly being followed by several clubs, including Celtic and Rangers. Moreover, his contract is due to expire in 2021.

According to TEAMtalk, Lingard only stays at Manchester if the club decides to activate the 12-month extension option in his contract. If that’s not the case, the midfielder is ready to ask United’s board to let him leave the squad next month.
