Chelsea’s focus is on Lukaku, not Messi
Despite claims Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has requested an ‘urgent meeting’ with Lionel Messi’s representatives, no transfer talks have taken place.
The Blues instead plan to re-sign Romelu Lukaku within the next few days. They will continue talks with Inter Milan, who want cash-only offers, over the weekend and plan to launch a final bid shortly.
Chelsea have reportedly offered Lukaku around €12 million per season in salary. [Fabrizio Romano]
Tottenham seal a deal for Romero
Cristian Romero completed his long-awaited transfer to Tottenham on Friday for around £47 million (€55m).
The Argentine defender has signed a five-year contract in north London until 2026. He becomes Spurs’ third summer signing after former Atalanta teammate Pierluigi Gollini and Spanish winger Bryan Gil.

PSG ‘confident’ of signing Messi
Paris Saint-Germain are feeling ‘so confident’ in their chances of signing Lionel Messi.
Contrary to widespread speculation, PSG are the only club to have made direct contact with Messi. The Argentine is open to a move to France, with Neymar urging the board to get a deal done. In fact, the squad itself ‘convinced’ he is coming.
PSG plan to make an official contract offer until 2023, with an option for a further 12 months included. [Fabrizio Romano]
Arsenal interest in Abraham is ‘serious’
The Gunners hold a serious interest in signing Tammy Abraham from Chelsea this summer.
Abraham, a boyhood Arsenal supporter, feels a move to the Emirates is an attractive proposition. That said, manager Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu will need to sell players first to do a deal.
Chelsea are reportedly holding out for around £40 million for Abraham. Aston Villa, Southampton, and Atalanta are also interested in the striker. [The Telegraph]
Aguero’s entourage denies Barca exit claims
Catalan outlet BetEve has claimed Lionel Messi’s exit has upset Sergio Aguero. The striker apparently told his lawyers to review his Barcelona contract in order to find a way out, despite only signing it last month.

Inter Milan line up two Lukaku replacements
Atalanta attacker Duvan Zapata and Roma striker Edin Dzeko top Inter Milan’s list of potential Romelu Lukaku replacements.
