Mapei Stadium was the place where Sassuolo got a visit from Juventus in the Italian Serie A this evening. We got the player ratings.

Juventus needed to win against Sassuolo tonight in order to remain with hopes of getting Champions League football next season. This trip didn’t seem difficult on paper for the Bianconeri, but they still had some demons to fight. Cristiano Ronaldo still wants to help his current squad reach the biggest competition in the world. Although watching one of the Super League’s biggest proponents does serve some sort of poetic justice. Watching Juventus lag behind at the top of the table has been quite strange this season.

Andrea Pirlo knew that his job depended on the results he gets today and in the last games of the season. He would need all the help he could get, Ronaldo included. Adrien Rabiot did start the game with the opener right before the first half-hour of the game. But today was ideal for two major records to be broken by the two top players at the club. Cristiano Ronaldo was the first in line to reach a major milestone

Dybala also makes history with Juventus.

After the break, we saw Sassuolo attempting to come back from a 2-0 disadvantage but they weren’t able to prevent a defeat after all. With 30 minutes left on the clock, Raspadori scored the goal for his side after an assist from Locatelli. However, tonight was perfect for Paulo Dybala to also score his 100th goal for Juventus. Just like Ronaldo did, only Paulo took more seasons to reach this milestone.

In the end, the Bianconeri keep their chances to make the Top Four by the end of the season at 69 points with two fixtures left on the calendar. We believed next week’s match against Inter Milan could decide the title but we were mistaken. All Juventus can hope for is making it to the Champions League next season. They play against the new Serie A champions at Allianz Stadium. Can they reach their target?
