Despite their stuttering form of late, Mohamed Salah claims Liverpool have not given up in the Premier League title race.
Mohamed Salah has promised Liverpool will fight like champions as the Reds’ limp title defense continued with defeat at Leicester on Saturday.
The Egyptian scored the opening goal at the King Power stadium but there was drama to emerge late on.
As at the 67th minute, Liverpool were leading courtesy of a goal from Salah, but it all changed in the space of seven minutes.
Maddison, Vardy, and Barnes scored within 10 minutes to hand Leicester a 3-1 victory and Liverpool their sixth loss in the Premier League this season.
The result also meant the Reds have lost their last three games consecutively in the league. After the defeat to Leicester, Jurgen Klopp admitted that his side were no longer in the title race, given a 13-point gap between leaders Manchester City,
Regardless, Salah has posted a defiant message on social media, insisting a slump in form will not define Liverpool’s season.
He posted on Twitter: “It’s been a tough period for many reasons. We are champions and we will fight like champions, until the very end.”
“We will not allow this season to be defined by the recent results we’ve had. That is my promise to all of you.”
Another tough week awaits Liverpool as they travel to Germany to take on RB Leipzig in the Champions League. After that game, they play another tricky tie as they welcome Everton to Anfield at the weekend.
