Let’s check out the player ratings from the Premier League clash between Leicester City and Liverpool over at the King Power Stadium.

Liverpool’s title defense took another crushing blow as three goals in the dying stages saw Leicester City snatch a remarkable 3-1 comeback victory.

On the back of a 4-1 home defeat to Manchester City, Liverpool had a strong start. The visitors had the edge over Leicester and dominated possession early on. But they lacked any clinical edge in the final third, with Foxes keeper Kasper Schmeichel remaining relatively untroubled in the opening period.

Not helping matters was James Milner having to come off in only the 18th-minute with an injury. Thiago replaced the midfielder, yet struggled to insert any real difference.

Jamie Vardy instead had the better chances instead on the other end of the pitch. Two saves from Liverpool keeper Alisson, along with the bar, denied the striker and ensured the scoreline remained goalless for the break.

The second-half began on a similar note, with Liverpool pressing unsuccessfully for an opener. Sadio Mane, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Roberto Firmino all had chances before Mohamed Salah finally struck.

A lovely backheel from Firmino inside the box set Salah up beautifully to smash the ball into the back of the net with a left-footed strike.

Just 13 minutes later, however, Leicester were level. Maddison curled in a free-kick from the edge of the box to equalize. And while the goal was initially disallowed due to an offside ruling against Amartey, a VAR review overturned the decision.

It set-up a dramatic finale at the King Power. A rare howler from Alisson, which saw the Liverpool keeper rush off his line and collide with debutant Kabak, presented Vardy with an open goal to put the ball away. It was the 34-year-old’s 11th league of the season and his first in six appearances.

But the drama didn’t end there as Ndidi set Harvey Barnes up down the left flank to slot one more goal past Alisson for a 3-1 win.

The defeat, Liverpool’s sixth in 10 games in 2021, leaves them fourth in the Premier League. They could, however, drop to seventh by the end of the weekend.

Leicester, meanwhile, have moved into second place for the time being at least.
