Despite his many options on the table, Mohamed Salah just revealed the reason he refuses to talk about his contract at Liverpool FC.
There’s no way to ignore this for much longer, Mo Salah’s contract with Liverpool expires in the summer of 2023. This means that if he doesn’t renew his contract next year, he will be able to leave for free. Over the last few years, Mo has established himself as one of the clear answers to the question we all ask ourselves: who will replace Messi and Ronaldo? His stats and achievements speak for themselves.
Liverpool is lucky to have such a prolific player but they need to tie him down for more years to come. This season, he started off with possibly his highest level of performance up to date. All the more reason for the Reds to push for his contract renewal. But if you ask Mo about it, he quickly dismisses the talk by putting the current season above anything else. He is not wrong though, Salah needs to focus on what could potentially become the best season of his career. We are quite early in the tournament and he already scored a Puskas Award contender.
Salah can’t think about the future, for now…
In a recent interview with Liverpool FC’s website, Mo was questioned about possibly extending his contract with the Reds. Initially, you can see how he is trying to dismiss the question. But when you carefully read his words, you can tell all he cares about is the next match. Liverpool returns from the international break with a visit to Watford on Saturday: “I’m happy as long as the team keep winning.
“I’m trying to help always, to score goals and make the team win games – that’s the most important (thing). We have to give our best always to win something and I think we have the quality for that. We have a top team, so we have to push ourselves to the limit and try to win something. I’m sure everybody thinks the same. That’s what we need, just to keep in our head that we finish the season winning something.”
