Mesut Ozil has been frozen out cold at Arsenal but there are reports claiming the German midfielder could be on his way to a certain club.

Fenerbahce congress member Murat Zorlu claims Fenerbahce are very close to completing a deal for Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil ahead of the January transfer window.

The 32-year-old was left out of the Gunner’s Premier League and Europa League squads for the first half of this season. Since then, he has repeatedly been linked with a move away from the club.

Fenerbahce have been tracking Ozil for almost two years and Zorlu has informed Sport Digitale the Turkish side are now looking to get the player in the new year

“A source, who’s very well connected to the club has told me that Mesut Ozil is likely to become a Fenerbahce player during the next transfer window. I would say 90% he will join us in one month.” the Turkish side’s congressman said as per Sport Digitale.

Ozil has also spoken about his admiration for Fenerbahce a couple of times and that he would like to play for his boyhood club at some stage in his career.

Throughout the last window, there were reports he could head to the Super Lig, but he eventually remained at the Emirates.

The former Germany international has also been linked with a move to MLS in recent months.

Ozil will see his current Gunners’ contract expire at the end of the season but according to Zorlu, a move to Istanbul could happen sooner rather than later.
