It appears that Chelsea are now inches close to completing the signing of Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell.
Reports claim Chelsea could complete the signing of Leicester full-back Ben Chilwell as early as next week.
The Blues have been linked with a move for the 23-year-old over the past few weeks.
Frank Lampard is in search of a left-back option as Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri have failed to convince. Chilwell has been identified to come in and make the position his own.
Just last week, rumors claimed both Chelsea and Leicester City verbally agreed on a deal to sign the defender.
The latest report from The Athletic now is that Chilwell has already had medical checks in London. A deal between £45million and £50million is close to being approved by Leicester.
However, the left-back may be forced to wait for his Chelsea debut if the deal gets done. He is currently struggling with a heel injury.
Should all things go as planned, Chelsea could announce Chilwell early next week.
The defender will join attacking signings Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner at Stamford Bridge next season. His arrival will take Chelsea’s 2020 spending so far to over £110million.
