Chelsea and Leicester City are reportedly on the verge of sealing an agreement for Ben Chilwell to join Frank Lampard’s side this summer.

Chilwell, who’s long been admired by Chelsea, could finally become a new left-back in west London.

Despite finishing third in the Premier League last term, a defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup final and a 7-1 Champions League elimination to Bayern Munich have raised eyebrows in London.

Strengthening a fragile backline has become seemingly significant to Lampard’s idea of restoring Chelsea to the Premier League elite.

With Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri both underperforming for large portions of the season, the English manager has intensified his interest in Chilwell.

The 23-year-old has a contract running until the summer of 2024, but the Blues are confident of pulling off the deal in the upcoming period.

According to football.london, Chelsea and Leicester are closing in on final details for Chilwell to swap the King Power Stadium for Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have already started the rebuilding process by snapping up the likes of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, as Lampard looks to mount a challenge on the Premier League title next term.

Manchester United and Manchester City are also harboring an interest in the England international, but a move to London seems to be destined to materialize in all likelihood.

In addition to Chilwell, Chelsea are also interested in swooping for Atletico Madrid’s Jose Maria Gimenez to add much-needed quality to their centre-back options.
