Leonardo Bonucci has reportedly turned down a move to Manchester City and would prefer to remain at Juventus.

Veteran defender Leonardo Bonucci has turned down the offer of a move to Manchester City this summer.

The 33-year-old is reportedly one of Pep Guardiola’s targets ahead of the new season.

City fell short in the title race last term and a woeful showing in defence was their undoing.

Guardiola now looks to sort that and has made moves already. The Citizens have already brought in Nathan Ake in a bid to strengthen their defence. An experienced name is also on their wishlist and not many fit the bill better than Bonucci.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Pep made contact with the Juventus man who later turned down the offer.

The report adds that Bonucci was ‘flattered’ by Guardiola’s interest but has decided to stay at Juve. He would rather work with new boss and former teammate Andrea Pirlo as the Bianconeri welcome a new era.

The 33-year-old fancies his chance under Pirlo and is ready to give his best for the club.

City will still try in for defenders elsewhere with Napoli’s Koulibaly also one of their top targets.
