According to some growing Dutch reports, Ajax are plotting a move to re-sign Luis Suarez from Barcelona this summer.
Luis Suarez left Ajax in 2011 but has always mentioned his desire to return someday. There might be a chance for that to happen this summer.
Barcelona are in a deep crisis. There is a serious need for change at the club. And perhaps they mean business this time. The first of many ‘changes’ is the recent sacking of Quique Setien as manager.
Alongside the news of Setien’s dismissal, it’s interesting to note that Barca also mentioned a ‘restructuring of the club’. This could well involve a lot of outgoings this summer.
A number of players are tipped to leave the club this summer and Suarez is reportedly among those names. Even the ‘untouchable’ Messi has been subject to whispers of an exit from the club.
Ajax are ready to pounce on their former player’s availability if those reports turn out to be true.
According to Dutch outlet Voetbal International, Ajax director of football Marc Overmars has held talks with Barcelona technical director Eric Abidal over a possible deal for Suarez.
The forward has one year left on his contract at Barcelona. However, his wages may end up being a stumbling block for the Dutch side.
The report concludes that Ajax might have to convince Suarez to take a pay-cut if that deal is to stand any chance of happening.
