Barcelona and Real Madrid are set to battle it out for the signing of Fabian Ruiz next summer, claims Miguel Alfaro.
A string of impressive displays in the first half of the 2019/20 season saw Napoli’s Fabian Ruiz become a subject of interest from clubs across Europe.
Among the transfer rumors, those linking him with a return to his native Spain were the strongest as Real Madrid was said to be keen on bringing in the midfielder.
But the rumors gradually started to get extinguished before completely dying out after the return of football in June, with the coronavirus pandemic giving rise to a financial crisis.
The 24-year old, as a result, is expected to stay put at Napoli for at least one more season.
Addressing the player’s future, his agent says that Ruiz is content with playing in Serie A right now but plans are already being made by two La Liga giants for his capture.
Miguel Alfaro told Calciomercato: “Barca and Real Madrid are interested in Fabian and will try to sign him in 2021.
“We’re not in a hurry to make a decision, he has a commitment and gives his very best wherever he plays, his team knows that. We don’t want to rush things when we’re making a decision.
“Napoli knows how we’re thinking. In any case, what’s important is that Fabian performs in the best way possible.”
