Kalidou Koulibaly is on his way of completing his long-awaited switch to the Premier League after reaching an agreement with Manchester City.

After a series of wild speculations linking Kouliably with a move to several Premier League sides, the in-demand Napoli defender is a step away from joining Manchester City.

Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla has confirmed that the Sky Blues and the Partenopei struck an agreement for the 29-year-old to swap Italy for England this summer.

Although no price tag has been mentioned yet, Pep Guardiola’s side will likely have to shell out north of £60million to get the deal over the line.

Guardiola has been scouring Europe for potential defensive reinforcements despite capturing the signature of Nathan Ake from Bournemouth.

John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi have both struggled to impress the Spanish manager and could find themselves out of the Etihad this summer.

Therefore, Ake’s arrival is not enough to ensure quality and depth at the back, hence the hot pursuit of Kouliably.

Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with the towering central defender, but Guardiola is close to winning the race for the Senegalese’s signature.

Koulibaly has established himself as one of the centre-backs in Europe’s top-five leagues since signing for the Naples outfit from Genk in 2014.

Indeed, he’s been a cornerstone of Napoli’s defense over the past six years, making over 240 appearances across all competitions for the Italian club.
