Ronaldo Nazario, a two-time Ballon d’Or winner, has revealed which player he would like to see lift the award ahead of next month’s ceremony.

Karim Benzema is the man Ronaldo Nazario hopes to see win the 2021 Ballon d’Or award next month.

After a year-long hiatus, football’s most prestigious individual honor is back in business. France Football unveiled the 30-man shortlist last week, which included the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

But while bookmakers and fans alike expect Messi to win the prize for a seventh time on November 29, Ronaldo has his fingers crossed for Benzema.

“Without a doubt, my candidate for the Ballon d’Or is Benzema,” the former Real Madrid and Barcelona striker posted on Facebook.

“The best striker, brutal level for 10 years, and champion above all. Don’t you think?”

Since Cristiano’s exit in 2018, Benzema has flourished as Real Madrid’s main man. The striker has scored 35 goals for club and country in 2021 alone and has started the new season in style.

Helping France win the Nations League at the weekend has only strengthened Benzema’s claim for a first Ballon d’Or.
