The former Manchester United star has included the likes of Alan Shearer and Cristiano Ronaldo in his all-star team.

Michael Owen has picked his best-ever Premier League lineup, with Cristiano Ronaldo being the only active player on the lineup.

Owen has honoured Premier League’s 30th anniversary by choosing the competition’s best XI of all time.

The former Manchester United star picked Peter Schmeichel in goal.

“Peter Schmeichel for me. He backs it up with trophies,” Owen said.

“He was involved in the greatest team of that generation, he had presence, size, he was commanding.

“I think he’s a standout.”

The former Man Utd keeper plays behind a four-man backline of Ashley Cole, John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, and Gary Neville.

Owen admitted choosing the midfielders was the toughest part of forming the lineup.

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard plays at the heart of Owen’s Premier League XI alongside Paul Scholes and Patrick Vieira.

The trio play behind Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer and Cristiano Ronaldo, who form the team’s devastating front line.

Having left out Wayne Rooney from his lineup, Owen also selected three substitutes for his team: Rooney, Kevin De Bruyne, and Yaya Toure.

Speaking about picking Ronaldo in his XI, the former Newcastle star said: “I had to get Ronaldo in,

“He’s one of the greatest players ever. Full stop.”
