The 29-year-old will undergo a medical on Wednesday ahead of his loan move to Inter Milan.

Romelu Lukaku has told reporters he is ‘very happy’ after arriving in Italy to complete his return to Inter Milan on Wednesday.

A beaming Lukaku left Linate Airport in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Milan. He greeted a handful of journalists before setting off to undergo a medical – which is now complete.

The Belgian striker will re-join Inter on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea. The Italian club will pay an initial fee of €8 million-plus potential add-ons of €3 million as part of the agreement.

The move comes almost a year after Lukaku left San Siro for Chelsea in a €115 million transfer.

What is Lukaku’s record at Inter?

In 95 appearances across a two-year spell, Lukaku supplied 64 goals and 16 assists for Inter. He helped the club end an 11-year wait for Serie A glory and reach the Europa League final.

The attacker made himself a fan favorite, but Inter’s financial problems, aggravated by the COVID-19 pandemic, saw the Nerazzurri implement cost-cutting measures and sell him to Chelsea.

Lukaku went on to have a bright start with the Blues, but his form soon tailed off. He finished last season with eight goals in 26 Premier League games and struggled to hold down a starting spot at times.

The former Manchester United frontman now returns to San Siro in hopes of rediscovering his best form.
