Emanuel Rosu assures that sources close to last night’s referees told him the assistant manager discriminated against the match officials because of their nationality.

Pierre Webo accused the fourth official Sebastian Coltescu of racist behavior after he allegedly referred to the assistant manager as “that black guy.” However, recent reports suggest the remarks were made by one of the assistant referees, not Coltescu.

Moreover, Rosu revealed his sources said Pierre Webo was racially abusing the referees right from the start of the match. The assistant manager reportedly called them ‘gypsies’. The word has been constantly used to discriminate against people of Romanian heritage.

Emanuel Rosu also said his perspective on the matter has changed after the latest developments. Additionally, the journalist showed some concern for the fourth referee, as has had psychological issues in the past.

“Please consider the fact that Coltescu, the 4th ref, is an emotionally fragile person, having tried to take his own life 12 years ago. The case was big in Romania back then.”

The Romanian journalist believes the referees acted in response to Webo’s xenophobic comments.

News about the PSG-Istanbul match traveled the world after both teams refused to continue playing amidst racist behavior claims. Consequently, the match was postponed for the next day featuring a different team of referees. Paris Saint-Germain decimated the Turkish side with a 5-1 win.
