According to a report from La Sexta, Sergio Ramos is still waiting for a new offer in order to leave Real Madrid by next summer.
Only a few weeks ago, there were reports on Sergio Ramos possibly reaching an agreement to remain at Real Madrid for one more year. However, new information about his decision just came to light. According to La Sexta’s Josep Pedrerol, the Spanish defender hasn’t decided anything about his future yet. In fact, Florentino Perez seems to think Ramos is still looking for an ideal offer that can give him as much money and time as he wants.
The deal that he’s rejected for the last couple of months is not what he wants for his career. As we told you before, Florentino Perez offered Ramos one more year with a 10% salary decrease due to the global pandemic and his age. But Ramos thinks he can still deliver some of the best football of his life during the next couple of years. For this reason, he is looking for at least two years in his new contract and a wage increase.
Which clubs could go after Sergio Ramos?
Sergio Ramos currently earns €15 million per-season as the highest-paid player inside the club. The captain earned this wage after everything he’s done for the club over the last decade with a starring role in four UEFA Champions League titles. But Florentino Perez has this usual way of thinking about his veteran players, regardless of their accomplishments or status. All the president sees is a veteran player who will soon reach the twilight of his career.
Ramos, however, thinks he deserves a salary increase for one last time. The most Florentino is willing to do for his veteran star is adding one more year to the one-season contract he already offered. But the 10% salary decrease is non-negotiable. This could easily mean that Ramos will likely leave Real Madrid by the end of the season. Sadly for the fans, Sergio has until the end of March to make a decision. Otherwise, he won’t be able to stay at the club.
