Reports in the Spanish press claim another star player in the Real Madrid camp has suffered an injury setback.
Real Madrid skipper Sergio Ramos will reportedly be sidelined for the next six to seven weeks, according to a report from Spanish radio network Cadena Cope.
Despite returning to group training earlier in the week from a knee injury, Ramos couldn’t join the team on Friday. He allegedly still suffers discomfort in his left knee. The team’s medical staff, therefore, have decided to submit him for surgery to resolve the problem.
Ramos will go under the knife in the Spanish capital to have the meniscus mended in his left knee on Saturday while Real Madrid travel to Huesca for their latest La Liga match.
It’s understood the Spanish center-back is set to be unavailable for around six to seven weeks. It’ll rule him out of the club’s next eight league games and both legs of the upcoming Champions League last-16 tie with Atalanta.
Ramos’ Los Blancos teammate Eden Hazard, meanwhile, was recently ruled out for up to six weeks with a thigh problem.
