One of PSG’s most important players is currently on the verge of a contract extension with the Ligue 1 club for the next three seasons.
PSG has at least two players they consider at the top of the food chain and one of them is about to reach an agreement for a contract extension. We are talking about Neymar, the Brazilian finally realized that finding a better place for him to continue his professional career will be difficult. He already reached last season’s Champions League final and he feels he will be able to do it again.
Just a couple of seasons ago, he wanted to play at FC Barcelona again. During his time with the Catalan club, Neymar was one of the happiest players as he even won the UEFA Champions League in 2015. But his poor relationship with former president Bartomeu, was the main reason he decided to leave Barcelona. When PSG came knocking on the Spanish club’s door with €222 million, the board didn’t even flinch when they accepted the payment.
Now that three years have passed, the situation with Neymar and Barcelona is very different. The Blaugranas are in shambles and about to lose their best player by next season, who was the only reason Neymar entertained the idea to return to Barcelona.
Messi might join him at PSG.
Sporting Director Leonardo had a brilliant plan to convince Neymar. He not only is considered the best player at PSG over Kylian Mbappe, but he would also be the leader if Leo Messi arrived at the club. According to Telefoot’s Julien Maynard, Neymar is on the verge of signing a contract extension for the next three seasons because they told him he is the club’s most important player. With Mbappe possibly leaving the club next summer, the Brazilian is the one who remains with all responsibilities.
However, they also had an ace up their sleeve in order to convince Neymar. In a mirror situation to the one the Blaugranas had last season, they will attempt the impossible. The plan is to lure Lionel Messi to PSG when his contract is finished in order to have more chances to win the Champions League as soon as he arrives. We all want to see both players together again, which is very possible coming from a club such as PSG.
