Jose Mourinho has revived his interest in one of Real Madrid’s central defenders on this January transfer market.
Tottenham are looking into their options to bring in another solution for their defense. It was recently reported that Mourinho has once again picked Real Madrid’s Eder Militao as his main target.
According to AS, the Portuguese manager has seen a rising opportunity as Militao struggles to get any minutes for the Merengues. The Brazilian defender joined Real Madrid for a €50 million fee back in 2019. Militao, then 21-years-old, had just finished a fantastic season at Porto and arrived branded as one of the hottest defender prospects.
However, he was reduced to Madrid’s fourth center-back option behind Ramos, Varane, and Nacho. The Brazil international has only featured in three matches in Spain this season. In fact, Militao hasn’t collected any minutes since he was sidelined with Covid-19 last November.
Nevertheless, the 22-year-old may be getting a new opportunity this year. Jose Mourinho seems Militao has a good solution for the lack of depth in the Spurs’ defense. Additionally to playing as a center-back, the Brazilian can also play as a right-back, which gives him some additional value.
The only doubt left regards the financial aspect of the transfer. Tottenham may try to snatch the defender on a loan, as Militao still holds a €30 million market value.
