According to a report, Chelsea have taken the first step in presenting an offer to Palmeiras for their prized asset in Gabriel Menino.

Gabriel Menino is just about one of the best youngsters in Brazilian football and it is no surprise a host of clubs are in the running for his signature.

The 20-year-old was a mainstay in the Palmeiras midfield as they cruised to the Copa Libertadores title alongside the Copa do Brasil cup last season.

However, Chelsea might have taken one step ahead over their rivals as the Blues have become the first come to officially submit an offer for the talented midfielder.

As per Brazilian outlet, TNT Sports, Chelsea have reportedly made an offer of around €14m to Palmeiras as they attempt to secure a deal for Menino.

The report adds that the Brazilian side might be willing to sell, given the financial crisis that has plagued many clubs in the region following the coronavirus pandemic.

However, Chelsea must battle interest from other sides in their quest to sign Menino. The likes of Atlético Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur FC are also in the running for the youngster. We also reported yesterday that Juventus have shown genuine interest in the player as well.

However it may be, Chelsea would be getting a bargain of a player if they manage to get Menino for that amount. The 20-year-old can play across all positions in midfield and can even be deployed in the right back role.

He was among Palmeiras’ most used players last season, making 54 appearances across all competitions. Chelsea look like they might be active once again in the summer window and the Brazilian starlet would make a good addition for any side at the moment.
