According to reports coming from Catalonia, FC Barcelona is counting the days to sell one of its most expensive stars in the winter transfer window.
FC Barcelona has many expensive stars who are not up to the club’s standards. It all started in 2017 when Neymar left the club to play for PSG. The institution was in disarray after the Brazilian’s decision and they scrambled to get his replacement. They never got into a proper market study that could determine which players were the best options. Since they had so much money to spend, they were pinned against the wall with every single club that wanted to negotiate.
This is how Philippe Coutinho’s transfer happened almost overnight without thinking if he was the right choice for the Catalan club. Cut to today after three seasons, Phil has been one of the club’s biggest flops. Not because he is a bad player but because he simply doesn’t fit in the club’s system. We all know Coutinho works perfectly fine in other clubs but he never got around to convince people in Barcelona.

Reports from Marca confirm that the club is in dire need to sell him because they don’t want him to play more matches that could cost more money.
In the contract when he signed from Liverpool, there’s a clause that states Barcelona has to pay €20 million if he plays another 10 matches for the Blaugrana. This is the reason the club is so desperate to sell him as soon as possible to the highest bidder. The problem here is that not many clubs are willing to buy him for a price Barcelona would accept.
